Trip Date: March 25, 2016 with Geoff Hardy
Trip time: 8 hours
Distance: 25 kms
Elevation Gain: 1,600m
Difficulty: Mostly easy. Short difficult sections near Rum Ridge summit that can probably be bypassed.
Geoff and I managed to bumble our way up through the woods & snow to the summit of Evangeline Peak. The ascent was slow going due to the terrain but reasonably pleasant. The traverse from Evangeline to Rum Ridge Peak was phenomenal, the views were unreal. The going was mostly easy, save a few short moderate scrambling sections.
Ascending Rum Ridge to its highest point is straightforward and steep. Near the highest part the ridge throws a few difficult sections at you but the exposure is never crazy and while the rock is shitty, it’s solid enough to high-point. Returning to the cars after the difficult sections is simple and uneventful.
