Trip Report: (By Bert Blank)

After tossing around some plans, Jamie and I decided to tackle Mount Pocaterra as an extension of Mount Tyrwhitt. Despite the smoke in the air we made good time getting up Mount Tyrwhitt and, as expected, we did not get much in terms of views. The ridge started out as moderate but as we approached Mount Pocaterra the ridge became quite exposed. At the summit we enjoyed browsing the hardly populated register and, after a bit of food and water, we started to head back. We descended a gully along the ridge and were able to avoid going all the way back to Tyrwhitt. The gully was quite steep and had plenty of tedious scree but we made it down without incident. A great day out for a scramble that was a bit more than expected!
